Marin Ireland and Original Off-Broadway Cast of Blue Ridge Reunite for Streamed Reading January 15
The Abby Rosebrock play premiered at Atlantic Theatre Company in 2019.
Tony nominee Marin Ireland (Reasons To Be Pretty, The Big Knife) will reunite with her Off-Broadway co-stars in a Play-PerView live stream performance of Blue Ridge 7 PM ET January 15. The Abby Rosebrock play debuted in 2019 at Atlantic Theatre Company starring Ireland, Kyle Beltran (In the Heights), Peter Mark Kendall (Six Degrees of Separation), Nicole Lewis (Rent), Kristolyn Lloyd (Dear Evan Hansen), and Chris Stack, who all return along with director Taibi Magar.
In Blue Ridge, a progressive high school teacher (Ireland) with a rage problem retaliates against her unscrupulous boss and is sentenced to six months at a church-sponsored halfway house, where she attends to everyone’s recovery but her own.
As with previous digital productions, each reading in 2021 will benefit a different organization or charity in need due to the COVID-19 pandemic; nearly $180,000 was raised last year. Blue Ridge will be available to stream through January 19 and will benefit the National Black Trans Advocacy Coalition.
Play-PerView’s winter programming continues with a reunion of the NBC series Timeless January 23 and Revenge Porn by Carla Ching February 13.
