Lillias White, S. Epatha Merkerson, More Will Reunite for Billy Porter’s While I Yet Live
The virtual reading welcomes the entire original Off-Broadway cast.
The original Off-Broadway cast of Billy Porter’s While I Yet Live, including Tony winner Lillias White and Emmy winner S. Epatha Merkerson, will reunite in a digital reading February 6. Also returning are cast members Elain Graham, Sheria Irving, Kevyn Morrow, Larry Powell, and Sharon Washington, along with director Sheryl Kaller.
While I Yet Live debuted at the Duke on 42nd Street as a Primary Stages production in 2014. Porter’s semi-autobiographical play follows a young man in Pittsburgh comes of age among a bevy of fascinating and strong-willed women.
The Play-PerView virtual event begins at 7 PM ET. Following its initial presentation, the production will be available on-demand through February 10, with proceeds going to the Actors Fund COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund.
In addition, Play-PerView has added more cast members for its Timeless live stream episode reading January 23, including Cory Michael Smith, Shantel VanSanten, Annie Wersching, Beau Brians, John Colton, Matthew Downs, James DuMont, Jordan Farris, Chris Gann, Chet Grissom, Ravi Naidu, Josh Randall, and Mari Weiss. An audience Q&A and a discussion moderated by Decider Managing Editor Alex Zalben will follow the reading. Previously announced Paterson Joseph has withdrawn due to a production conflict.
The following week, Play-PerView will reunite the cast and series creator of You’re The Worst January 31at 6 PM. Among those slated to appear are Todd Robert Anderson, Desmin Borges, Darrell Britt-Gibson, Aya Cash, Kether Donohue, Chris Geere, Allen Maldonado, Allan McLeod, Brandon Mychal Smith, and Janet Varney . The presentation will be available on demand until February 4, with proceeds benefiting Feeding America.
